Marinus Wind LLC is a privately owned company with an aim to commercialize vertical axis wind turbines, initially in the small wind category but also as the proper technology for the energing offshore wind industry. Marinus Wind is engaged in the development and commercialization of a patented vertical axis turbine technology (Wind-sail) which is nearly equal in efficiency to currently available horizontal axis wind turbines, and superior to them in reliability, maintainability, and accessability of critical components.

Marinus Wind is based in Houston, Texas. The senior management team includes professionals with extensive experience in wind turbines, generators, energy, marine and subsea engineering, offshore project management and venture capital.

Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) announced today that it is moving forward with plans to establish a world-class Tidal Energy Device Evaluation Center (TEDEC) to facilitate and accelerate the development of tidal energy as a source of clean and renewable energy. MMA submitted a formal Application for Preliminary Permit to the United States Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, covering the planning, construction, and operation of a proposed TEDEC.
